Ripple: $1 million in XRP in donation to Kamala Harris
The support of Chris Larsen, founder of Ripple, toward Kamala Harris, is no secret. We had had a chance to talk about it before, with Larsen having already passed into the news as part of a “minority” in a crypto world basically siding with Donald Trump.
Indeed, there are those who, like him, are going against the tide, highlighting those in the crypto world who remain supportive of the Democratic candidate.
Larsen’s favor has been expressed in concrete ways. In fact, the Ripple president has donated more than $1 million in XRP to Kamala Harris’ election support committee.
The Future Forward PAC, which works on behalf of Harris’ election campaign, accepts cryptocurrency donations in partnership with Coinbase Commerce, which instantly converts the crypto of choice into USDC (to avoid volatility issues). However, according to Eleanor Terrett of Fox Business, this would be the first actual crypto donation received by the committee. That adds up to a total of $200 million raised.

Crypto and elections at the door
Harris, on the campaign trail, has repeatedly shown signs of openness to the crypto world, saying she wants to support innovative technologies such as AI and digital assets while protecting consumers and investors. The attempt is to regain support from the crypto community, which has long drifted away from the Dem side following years of regulatory tensions during the Biden administration.
On the other hand, Donald Trump seems to be continually reviving support for the industry. In recent weeks he has promised to end a truly “illegal and un-American crackdown” on the crypto industry, and the community seems to continue, in large part, to support him.
