NFTs on TON, and more specifically on Telegram, record a spike in volumes: activity at +400% in Q3 2024
Rebirth for NFTs thanks to Telegram
We have long since also come to know Telegram as the home of new dApps and new cryptocurrencies. It made history Hamster Kombat, and like it many other tap-to-earn or similar. The trend, however, certainly did not end with the airdrop of HMSTR, and the TON ecosystem seems to be growing all the time.
A generalized growth that seems to have involved, unlike on other chains, the NFT sector as well .
According to the company Helika, which recently published the “Q3 ’24 Telegram Games Report”, interactions on the messaging app with NFTs would have seen a not inconsiderable increase. Last July, active wallets on Telegram that possessed NFTs numbered less than 200,000. In September alone, these became more than one million.
In other words, a 400% growth in the third quarter of 2024, made possible by the integration of numerous NFTs into the various gaming applications developed on Telegram in the last period.
The last hope for NFTs: gaming
Of course, the whole dynamic depends on a growth in Web3 adoption via Telegram in general, with more and more users interfacing with decentralized assets via TON dApps on the platform.
If NFTs are then integrated on the most well-known titles, starting with Hamster Kombat, this growth may not even stop there. The popular tap-to-earn is reportedly planning to integrate a new NFT collection into the game, to be leveraged during “season 2” due out in November.
The trend could, in this sense, also bring some oxygen back to the NFT sector. As of today, 96 percent of NFTs are considered “dead ” after years of speculation. But their usefulness is undisputed, especially in a field like gaming.
