Solana and Google launch GameShift: the future of Web3 gaming

The new partnership between Google Cloud and Solana Labs has finally led to the launch of GameShift, supporting devs in the Web3 gaming world
GameShift: the new creature from Solana and Google
The partnership between Google Cloud and Solana had been talked about for some time. We, too, had reported last May about an agreement between the parties aimed at promoting the adoption of blockchain technology in the mainstream gaming industry.
That project is now seeing the light of day with the launch of GameShift on Google Cloud Marketplace, which is a new blockchain game development platform designed to facilitate the work of developers. Elements such as wallets, in-game assets and real marketplaces will then be able to be integrated into new titles (more easily): all essential tools for creating Web3 video games.
The partnership also aims to offer gamers the guarantee of operating safely in the area of payments, thanks to a solid infrastructure offered by Google Cloud that allows devs to dedicate themselves almost exclusively on the “creative” aspect.

Web3 gaming of the future
Gamers, in turn, will be able to easily own and use gaming assets and even leverage integrated cryptocurrencies depending on the titles, making for a very interesting perspective of the gaming world.
“Production studios have recently been considering Web3 for new approaches to growth and development, but they are often put off by the apparent complexity of its technology,” said Jack Buser, director of gaming at Google Cloud. “They are already overloaded, and they need solutions like GameShift that provide simplified technical interfaces for Web3.”
Solana, on the other hand, was chosen as the ideal infrastructure for the above operations. Playing in its favor is its ability to process billions of transactions per day, but also the ecosystem’s history in the industry. Indeed, the network is already a benchmark in the gaming world, as well as being among the top performers in terms of NFT and stablecoin exchange volumes.
