Jump Crypto's new Firedancer validation client has landed on the Solana mainnet, to take on new scalability challenges
The evolution of the Solana mainnet
Firedancer, Jump Crypto‘s new independent validation client, has landed on the Solana mainnet (in “non-voting” mode). This was announced by Kevin Bowers, Jump Crypto’s chief science officer, during the Solana Breakpoint event in Singapore taking place these days, recounting the new scaling challenges the network is facing.
The validator is still in the development phase, being subjected to ever new tests on a testnet, but the latest steps addressed portend a full integration now imminent.
The news also seems to have been welcomed by the market, for a weekly SOL rise of about 7 percent that has led the token to travel again around $150. Growing, likewise, is the volume of trading on the network.
The whole project aims to evolve the Solana network in a way that solves typical ecosystem disruption problems, optimizing the utilization of the hardware compartment and reducing software inefficiencies through the help of a third party for even greater performance.

New goals for SOL
According to Jump Crypto, in addition, Firedancer would also add another layer of network security by diversifying the validator’s code base.
“A second independent validator has benefits beyond performance, but performance is a prerequisite for reduced cost and capacity,” Bowers said. “We are working with the community in all these areas.”
The update has been warmly welcomed by the community, which now believes in amazing prospects for the ecosystem in relation to Ethereum as well. For Jeremy Allaire, ceo of Circle, for example, this move would be “an incredible milestone for our industry.”
