Pepe Coin conquered the scene upon arrival and, even today, retains a privileged position in the hearts of meme coin enthusiasts!

Pepe Coin: real meme coin mania

Meme coins will never die (?)

All-in on Pepe Coin!

Joking aside, the rise of PEPE came when we least expected it, amid macroeconomic difficulties and remnants of the bear market.

Even today, some time later, many people wonder what the PEPE token is, what its value is, and why everyone is talking about it at certain times.

In this in-depth discussion we will answer the main questions around, pausing several times to emphasize the danger behind memecoins, but also talking about opportunities.

After that, the choice will be yours alone!

What is Pepe Coin?

Pepe Coin is a memecoin that periodically rocks the markets. At birth it brought this type of crypto back to prominence after a long period of losses.

When was Pepe Coin born? The story of PEPE began in the spring of 2023, when it was published on the Ethereum blockchain.

Within weeks, memecoin was able to climb the ranks, reaching a market cap during the interim all-time high of about $1.73 billion (source CoinMarketCap, see chart below).

pepe market cap

Given the high demand, Pepe Coin soon landed on some of the major crypto exchanges around, such as Bybit and Binance. In addition, it is exchangeable on some decentralized platforms, including the most famous ones such as Uniswap.

But what are the features of Pepe? More importantly, what is its usefulness?

Like any self-respecting memecoin, PEPE has no intrinsic value. The funny and characterizing thing is that it is the very people behind it who say so, via the crypto’s official website.

Translating a quote, it is precisely reported that “PEPE has no intrinsic value or expectation of financial return. There is no formal team or roadmap. The currency is totally useless and for entertainment purposes only”. Utmost honesty on this aspect.

What has just been said does not have to mean, however, that PEPE cannot be a very high-risk gambling operational choice. Not coincidentally, predecessors such as Shiba Inu, Floki and Dogecoin have enriched (or made several people lose everything).

Therein lies the dilemma: crypto memes can make a lot of money, as well as make one lose it in a snap of the fingers. If you are aware of what you are doing, they can be a great speculation tool (by allocating small capital); otherwise, better to gloss over, study and opt for more solid currencies such as bitcoin and Ether.

Be careful to make the right choice. When in doubt, better to opt for a nice plate of cacio e pepe, and avoid buying the cryptocurrency PEPE instead.

Pepe Coin tokenomics

PEPE has a supply of 420.69 trillion. Written out in full, the figure is quite impressive: 420,690,000,000,000. This particular limit is meant to pay homage to the numbers 4:20 and 69, popular in the meme world.

Such a supply follows the golden rule of each memecoin (or perhaps we should say shitcoin?), which is to offer so many that it gives the feeling of wealth to the holders. Being able to easily buy even a billion Pepe coins, the possessor already feels on another planet given the quantity; then it makes no difference if the value of a single coin has several zeros after the decimal point, because a well-known psychological mechanism comes into play.

Still staying in the mental sphere, such a high bid leads precisely to a price of 0.00000 … dollars per specimen. This makes automatic a thought like “it would be enough to get to 1 cent to become a millionaire”, one of the cornerstones of the memecoin type. Again, however, psychology has to clash with market cap: it is almost impossible to even come close to certain figures.

About 93 percent of the supply was sent to the liquidity pool. The related LP tokens ended up burned. What remains, less than 7 percent of the supply, is stored in a multisig wallet for future quotations on new exchanges, bridges, and other platforms.

"Beware of the psychological mechanisms typical of these cryptocurrencies!"

How much is Pepe Coin worth?

We said in the previous paragraph that PEPE has an immense supply. Consequently, this is reflected in the value, equipped with several zeros after the decimal point.

At the peak, the token has grown since launch by 900,000%. We’ll leave the “if I had bet €100…” type calculations to you, emphasizing the extreme difficulty in getting to the right time, as well as all the dangers and doubts involved.

Where to buy Pepe Coin?

Pepe Coin is available on all major centralized exchanges. Through these platforms you can then buy the token while paying with other cryptocurrencies or directly in fiat currencies.

If you don’t already have a trusted crypto exchange, here are three names (and their discounts, check if they work in your country) you could lean on:

  • Crypto.com: an entity that needs no introduction. Open a Crypto.com account and receive $25 in CRO if you apply for a premium card;
  • Bitget: an excellent and fast-growing alternative. Join Bitget and get a 15% fee discount and up to $8,000 in bonuses;
  • Binance: the market-leading exchange. Sign up for Binance and enjoy a 20% fee discount forever, plus a $100 rebate on the first fees paid.

If you already own cryptocurrencies, you could also buy PEPE on a DEX. We recommend UniSwap, PancakeSwap or Balancer.

With that we say goodbye and see you in the next chapter of this token soap opera.
